''Day three started early with differing levels of sleep across the group. The start of the ride was through luscious green backstreets then out onto an easy road that ran parallel to a tranquil lake. Everything seemed calm, but little did I know what lay ahead.
We continued to cycle with looming hills in the distance, passing more monkeys, free-roaming cows and a chameleon or two. There were even warning signs for leopards but, luckily, we didn't encounter any of those. The first stop was the foot of the first big hill to have a quick drink and resupply the sun cream that most people had sweated off. We told ourselves it would be good practice for tomorrow.
The hills seemed endless, the sun was scorching and all I kept asking myself was "why am I cycling up a mountain in the midday sun?". But we got to the end, God knows how. Pure grit, determination and team spirit got everyone through. It really is such a warm group. Camaraderie and congratulations from everyone helps you find that extra gear.
I have to say, I'm privileged to be in such a beautiful country, with such welcoming people, and all for an amazing cause.
And a huge happy birthday to Cliff!''
