The Openwork Foundation Cycle Challenge 2023 - Morocco

02/11/2023

Hi, it’s my privilege to lead the 21st overseas cycle challenge for The Openwork Foundation, from 3 – 10 November 2023. It’s one of the key events in the Foundation calendar and this year we have a team of 28 partners, advisers, colleagues and clients from across The Openwork Partnership and Ted, the team mascot, who will be celebrating his 15th cycling adventure.

Each year the team members work together, supporting one another during tough times, with one focus - to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.

The team are raising funds to help vulnerable people in our communities, including those in Morocco where villages and families were destroyed in the earthquake earlier this year. The Openwork Partnership will uplift all donations, by 50%, boosting the grant programme further.

We’ll start cycling on Saturday in our Moroccan Omnis cycle shirts, including Ted, and we’ll share a daily blog here of the challenges and adventures; and there’s sure to be plenty.

We’re cycling on dirt tracks and will cover 220km in 5 days with steep inclines, as high as 3,000m, in this remote and cultural land. The altitude and terrain will take their toll – it’s been described as lumpy with plenty of gorges and mountain passes. We’re all hoping for more downhills than uphills.

You can add your support by donating on our event pagehttps://openwork.enthuse.com/cf/owf-morocco-2023

We’re hours away from jumping on the plane…so time to finish packing and ready ourselves for the mountains ahead.
