Our governance

Our commitment to respect human rights is embedded in our code of conduct, which all our colleagues are committed to following.

We respect the protection of human rights within our sphere of influence and work hard to ensure we are not complicit in abuses.

We take a zero-tolerance stance on slavery and human trafficking within our workforce and expect the same from our supply chain.

We are committed to responsible business conduct, fair competition and integrity, and driving out all forms of bribery and corruption and any conduct that could create the appearance of impropriety which are at odds with the interests of The Openwork Partnership and our clients.

We have rigorous Financial Crime Policies and our colleagues receive tailored training to address issues like money laundering, bribery, data breaches and people trafficking, to assist with their identification and reporting.

We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all tax matters and endeavour to make timely and accurate tax returns.

Tax strategy

To demonstrate that The Openwork Partnership is being run, not just with an eye to the interests of our Boards and Shareholders, but with a recognition of our responsibilities to our colleagues, our clients, our suppliers and our wider community, since 1 January 2019, our annual strategic reports have included a statement (known as a “section 172(1) statement”) describing how we have had regard to, when performing our duty to promote the success of our company, the:

  • likely consequences of any decision in the long term
  • interests of our colleagues
  • need to foster the company's business relationships with suppliers, clients and others
  • impact of the company's operations on the community and the environment
  • desirability of the company maintaining a reputation for high standards of business conduct
  • need to act fairly as between members of the company.

We recognise the importance of timely and accurate payments to our suppliers for their goods and services. On that basis, our policy is to:

  • Settle the terms of payment with our suppliers when agreeing the terms of each transaction
  • Ensure that our suppliers are made aware of the terms of payment and
  • Abide by our terms of payment.

We also provide annual reports setting out our payment practices and policies and our performance by reference to those payment practices and policies.

We take seriously our responsibility for the health and safety of our people, whether in offices, the field or home-workers, visitors, tenants and other members of the public who may be affected by our business activities.

We have in place robust Health & Safety policies which we closely adhere to.

All our colleagues receive a Health & Safety induction, including being made aware of the Health & Safety policies and receiving a Display Screen Equipment (‘DSE’) Assessment.

We are committed to conducting our business with honesty and integrity, and we expect all colleagues, advisers and suppliers to maintain these same high standards. However, all organisations face the risk of things going wrong from time to time, or of unknowingly harbouring illegal or unethical conduct. A culture of openness and accountability is essential, helping us to prevent such situations occurring and to address them when they occur.

We have a comprehensive Whistleblowing Policy covering all colleagues, advisers, officers, consultants, contractors, and agency workers. Through our policy, we aim: to raise awareness of the importance of removing illegal and unethical conduct within our organisation; enable concerns to be raised through specific and independent procedures; and ensure anonymity and confidentiality is maintained through the procedure, if required.
